Navtax Search By Filter
An important part of search engine optimization of your site is cleaning up your urls. Drupal’s clean urls takes a step toward this, turning /?q=dirty/url into /dirt/url (or rather /cleanurl). Another important part of optimizing your site is providing plenty of keyword-rich, relevant content for your audience. A third important concept in search engine optimization is keyword-rich pages, full of interesting and relevant information.
Navtax takes all of these concepts and creates pages that search engines find delicious and humans find extremely useful. Essentially Navtax is a search-by-filter module for Drupal so it returns search results in the form of many page teasers, however unlike ordinary search-by-filter modules it’s urls are extremely useful and clean, taking the form www.yoursite.com/accommodation/beach.pool.spain. These are interesting to Google, Bing and Yahoo for searches like “beach accommodation in spain” and “beach accommodation in spain”.
The url is of course one part of a number of points of interest to the search engines, but urls alone do not make a search engine optimized site, so Navtax also uses keywords used in the url to help you put across your message to your audience. The messages are highly customizable, so your page content can dynamically create content as simple as “Are you looking for [beach] [accommodation] in [Spain]? The list of pages below provide…” That as it stands is better than a standard, non-descript message for explaining to your audience what your page contains, however messages can be ‘personalized’ per page, for a more detailed description.
